In January 2009, Café Gratitude Healdsburg location began letting me use their restaurant to hold free, live, weekly, educational speaking events. How Cool Is That?

Monday Night LIVE! @ Café Gratitude is My Baby!
As the name implies, the events take place live, on Monday nights, at Café Gratitude's Healdsburg location. The events generally start at 7:00 or 7:30 pm and typically end between 8:00 and 9:00 pm(depending on specific event).
(Arriving an hour early will allow you to get seated, order and eat an AMAZING Café Gratitude dinner.)

Chaya-Ryvka is a raw food chef, raw food pastry chef, educator, and promoter of vibrant health currently located in Northern California. Through food preparation workshops, lectures, private classes, and catering Chaya-Ryvka shares with her clients and audiences a new paradigm of food as ideal body/mind/spirit fuel, and medicine while providing the nurturing flavors and textures we have all come to associate with as satisfying “comfort food”.
Chaya-Ryvka trained for two years as an apprentice with Master Raw Food Chef Elaina Love. Together they catered raw food retreats, served private catered events, taught classes, and opened a raw food café – Café Soulstice in San Mateo, CA. She also apprenticed with gourmet raw pastry chefs and creators of the desserts for the voted #1 raw food restaurant – Café Gratitude. Chaya-Ryvka spent 6 months apprenticing in the art of raw chocolate confections; she worked in a newly opened raw/vegan chocolate factory, Coracao Confections.
Currently Chaya-Ryvka is expressing her living foods creativity catering private events, teaching group classes, creating specialty gourmet raw desserts, raw wedding cakes and providing private raw lifestyle/kitchen consultations through her company Living Vision. She works locally in the Bay area as the “bakery” (or more correctly raw “makery”) Supervisor at Café Gratitude.

Jerri Hastey

Food had been a lifetime hobby for Jerri Hastey, the owner and chef of Seed (Santa Rosa's only raw restaurant), but once her daughter turned her on to Raw Food it became her passion!

It started out as just a two-week raw food cleanse, but Jerri felt so good and loved the food so much she decided to continue. Six months later she found herself 60 pounds lighter and full of life!

Jerri's been raw for about 2 years and she's been an entrepreneur for about 20.

Even though raw cuisine has been around for decades, it has only recently started to gain momentum in our society. I'll discuss ways you can fill the need for products and information with only a few dollars and a dream.

Elaina Love

Elaina Love is a professional Chef and Instructor, Lifestyle Counselor and Owner/Director of the raw food store Pure Joy Planet. She authored the raw, vegan, living food recipe books Elaina's Pure Joy Kitchen, and Elaina's Pure Joy Kitchen 2 to share her favorite recipe creations, which have also been published internationally. She is the creator of the Amazing Nut Milk Bag.

Elaina has been teaching raw food courses worldwide since 1998. She is a Chef/Instructor at the renowned Living Light Culinary Arts Institute where she has been on staff since 2000. Elaina has taught classes and provided raw food meals at many raw food events and retreats, including those for David Wolfe of Nature’s First Law, Dr. Gabriel Cousens of The Tree of Life, Living Light Internationals Raw World, The International Raw Foods Festival, The Boutenko Family and many more recognized leaders in the raw food community.

With a passion for sharing the knowledge she has attained through years of experience, Elaina has helped people throughout the country bring about positive changes in their lives. Melissa Mango

Melissa Mango got her first taste of Live foods while volunteering at Tempe’s Rawsome Café. Returning toIdaho, she founded The House of Vibrance, which hosted a wide array of raw food speakers and events.
Melissa’s next venture, Birdie Basket, served as Idaho’s first Live foods catering business, offering private demos, transitioning services, and lectures. Melissa was the Chef for 6 diabetics during the filming of RawFor30Days "Healing diabetes naturally" at which time she was a guest Chef and a volunteer instructor at The Tree of Life Rejuvination Center. In 2005, Melissa was the only vegetarian/Raw chef participating in the Grill Masters Competition in Boise, Idaho, where she won most creative dish as well as best show at The Texas Vegetarian Chili cook off.

Some of her Yummie recipes can be found in Carol Alt's new book "The RAW 50" and the hot new show Glivng on Green Tv, www.Gliving.tv.

Currently Melissa posts free weekly recipes for NY e-mag SoulDish as well as running Terra Bella Cafe, and Terra Bella Dessert Company in Redondo Beach, Ca. For fun and passion, Melissa is a consultant to Raw Businesses, cafe's and Chef's that want to bump up their talents on the garden-cutting board. Her new book, "Melissa Mango's Green Cusine" was unveiled this summer.

Matt Samuelson

Living Light head chef and instructor Matt Samuelson was previously head chef at Living Light Culinary Institute from 2000-2004. From 2004 until 2009, Matt traveled the world as a personal chef to celebrities, restaurant consultant, teacher, and caterer of raw food retreats. Matt also launched a raw organic chocolate company, High Integrity Foods with partner Chris Peck, developing a premier raw chocolate bar, Golden Bean that is sold worldwide.

It all started in November of 2005, when two guys met at a raw food retreat in the magical land of Peru. Matt Samuelson, Chef and Culinary wizard, was preparing the food for one of David Wolfe’s magical retreats. Chris Peck, a guest on the retreat, came around the corner and ran into Matt and there was a long comfortable pause and a sparkling moment of recognition and two brothers from another time were reunited. The fact is these guys have fun together and what could be more exciting than making the best chocolate ever. Chris was so inspired from meeting Matt and learning about the raw food industry from it’s greatest guru, Mr. David Wolfe, that he sold his construction business of 10 years and began helping him release his chocolate recipe and 99 other secrets still up Matt’s sleeve.

As the co-author of Cafe Gratitude's best selling dessert recipe book, "Sweet Gratitude", Tiziana brings a wide range of skills and experience to her current practice as a dessert chef. Her passion for desserts is a lifelong journey she started in Italy inspired by her mother and grandmother. In the early nineties she started to study macrobiotic philosophy and began to develop her own recipes for vegan, macrobiotic desserts.

She came to California in 1997 to continue her studies and has since been involved in health and nutrition, baked for several International Macrobiotic Conferences and Cruises, and managed two vegan bakeries. She has worked as a private chef, a pastry chef, taught hands-on dessert classes since 1998 in Italy, Canada, and the US. Her holistic approach to health includes acupressure training and somatic experiencing.

Tiziana’s presentation will be connected with her book, "Sweet Gratitude", and how each chapter in the book has a connection with some emotional state of being; Trust, being Present, Guilt, Love, Oneness etc. From here she’ll be introducing how our emotional states have an effect on our physical body specifically in regards to her other passion, Somatic Experiencing practice. 

Tiziana is currently the bakery manager at Café Gratitude and has been with the company since 2005.

All Frank Ferrante wants is to fall in love one last time before he dies.

In the beginning Frank is a 290-pound, 54 year old Sicilian from Brooklyn, NY. who has an unquenchable thirst for women, a tendancy to create awkward moments, and a kanck for failure. He's got Hepatitis C and is on numerous medications including Interferon and anti-depressants. He drinks 10 espressos a day just to keep himself awake. He is an ex-addict, accused of being a terrible father, a nasty ex-husband, a lousy brother and a lost soul. Frank is neer satisfied; he's always hungry for the next quick fix. At least, that WAS Frank...

Until the day he stumbled into his long-awaited awakening, disguised as Cafe Gratitude, a raw organic and vegan food restaurant in the sunset district of San Francisco. Here, Frank is offered something remarkable: another chance at his life. A conversation between Frank and a cafe waiter named Ryland results in the creation pf an experiment: to help Frank fal in love. In Bunny's Words:

On April 14th, 2008, I embarked on a journey to change my life.  At the time, I was very sick. I had a hard time making it through the day without spending most of my time in bed.  Every joint in my body ached. My herniated disc was killing me. I was fat, fatigued, and FED UP!  I had been to the doctor, and after running tests for Lupus, MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, etc, etc, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and given a 90 count bottle of Vicodin to fill.

I got mad. I was pissed, and kept saying, “That’s it? Just take narcotics for the rest of my life? I’m only 38 years old!  I shouldn’t feel this bad.”  I came home, and immediately started researching natural treatment for Fibromyalgia.  Some of the symptoms sounded like me, but I didn’t have the muscle pain. I wasn’t sure about the diagnosis. I didn’t fill the prescription.

As I kept reading and researching, I read a lot about diet, and how it can be a really important part of the treatment of autoimmune disorders.  I read about people having success with a Raw and Living Foods diet.  I was intrigued, and started watching YouTube videos about raw food.  I saw a video with Matt Monarch from http://www.rawspirit.org, and decided to give the diet a try.  That’s when the real journey began.

I challenged myself to eat Raw and Living Foods for 100 Days. And each day, I would post a video on YouTube, tracking my journey.  Within 3 days of being on raw food, almost all of my symptoms had gone away. No more chronic heartburn. No more joint pain. No more back pain. I felt like a miracle had happened.  I started telling everybody I knew about my miracle. And I invited anyone who wanted to join me on the first official RawFu 100 Day Challenge.

The Challenge Started on August 15, 2008, and over 1000 people had joined by opening day.  It was so exciting!  I wanted to build a community that wasn’t exclusive, so everyone was welcome. Whether you were committing to adding a Salad-A-Day like my friend, Ryan Ozawa,  or were going for a full 100% raw commitment like the lovely Rebecca Jordan, all levels of raw food enthusiast were welcome!

Since August 15, 2008 our community has thrived.  Hundreds of pounds have been lost. Lifelong friendships have been forged. We’ve had meetups, holiday parties, and focus on love and support towards all members.  This community has been the real miracle in my life.  I feel honored to be able to lead such a wonderful group of people.  I love you, RawFu!

Now we are embarking on a new journey. Along with the online community of now almost 2000 members, you’ll be able to shop for RawFu Approved raw supplies, and also subscribe to RawFu Magazine, a monthly magazine that will supplement the online forums. It’s such an exciting time.  I hope you’ll come along for the ride!
